Night Of Champions -Is It Needed?

When i first got in to wrestling again i think NOC had just passed and i thought to my self ' man what a genius of a idea' . However more recentley i have re-considerd.

The timing of the PPV in my opinoin is utterly awful .Straight off the back off ONS . Which was all stip match's . So that means know we have another unique ppv with ALL 9 titles on the line .So some need to have something to spice it up but then people would complain that we just had that at ONS. I know we have the ECW triple threat but in my opinoin that is going to be diabolical.

So that poses the question is it Noc fault or is it just the timing . So if you chose the wwe scedule[pretty big If dont you think lol] would you scrap it or would you re-time it

the timing of the event is awful, i like the idea however having it on the back of a draft is stupid in the extreme

I like the idea of having every title being on the line even if the're not in a feud at that time, it adds another different to the WWE PPVs as does One Night Stand, I would like to have them spread out more. I think the timing of the draft and this has been terible as gaffer said. but I think it's WWE's way of mixing everything up.

I think there should be 4 PPVs each for SMACKDOWN and RAW and have the 'big four' PPVs for every brand

This way the PPVs could be spread out more for each brand (say around 7-8 weeks apart and give stories time to develop instead of just having a quick smash and grab put together PPV

ECW obviously would not get there own PPV due to the size of roster but matches from there could appear on any of the PPVs as an extra or a bonus if you coudl call it that

I think it was alot better when they had seperate ppvs for seperate brands but because of people like HHH etc. who want to be on the big things all the time, that just can't happen, I would like ECW to maybe have a mini PPV, that's not as long as others, just like a big show.

I don't think ECW could handle any bigger than there hour slot to be honest with you

in the past week they have lost Benjamin, Punk, Kane and Kingston, all of whom have had brilliant matches with at least one another in the past 6 weeks, matches to put RAW to shame, yet all they get back is Matt Hardy

I don't get the whole 'Triple H is the reason for joint PPV's' comment?

I doubt very much that Hunter would ask to do MORE work when he could have the night off, anyway, was he not out injured when the WWE stopped the single brand PPVs?

I understand why they stopped the single brand PPVs though, but thats only because the writers had become extremely sloppy, if we get back to a single brand PPV you will instantly see the increase in talent and performance and time spent on the tag team division and the IC/US division, and you would probably see far more undercard story lines!

Downside is guys will be so dedicated to RAW that they will just buy RAW PPVs and not SMACKDOWN where as they will buy them all just now!

Vince and the WWE are obviously making so much money that they can afford to give away $3m so why not look to earn a little less in the near future and utilise there time to build two strong shows with excellent lower middle and upper cards, in the long run that WILL get more ratings to the shows every week and PPVs will become more prized when they do come around

I didn't mean Triple H alone, what I meant was people who make the most money are generally on one brand (Raw. Until recently.) so WWE think that if they have joint PPVs they willl make more money, when they should create a better wrestling show, building a mid-card and giving more time for matches rather than pointless promos, especially at PPVs (obviouslly not all promos but I would rather see some good matches than bad promos.)

The single brand PPV idea was scrapped just after DEcember To Dismember - it took 90,000 buys (which is thwe lowest ever for a WWE show), the whole thing was shite. The other downside to a lot of the single brand PPV's were the amount of matches that were pretty much ignored by the crowd - thinking back to the last ones, matches like Gregory Helms vs. Jimmy Wang Yang got the 'Boring' chants, especially when a better macth between the 2 took place on Smackdown a couple of days earlier.

Part of the appeal of PPV's are that they are supposed to showcase matches you wouldn't normally see on TV - aside from the cage match when Edge took the title off Taker at the end, I can't remember seeing a straight one-on-one match between Taker, Edge and Batista on Smackdown, but to fill out the PPV card, we'd have to see the liikes of Deuce and Domino against Jesse & Festus again... although a lot of the PPVmain events do get repeated (HHH / orton, anyone?) they very get given away on free TV. The promise of 3 or 4 matches that you may nt see anywhere else on a mulkti-brand PPV is a hell of a lot more appealing than seeing 1, and having to suffer Jamie Noble take on Chuck Palumbo again...

I understand that, and it was effective in the whole Michaels v Batista angle however liek you said, we see the same anyway

just how many main events have EDGE The Undertaker and Batista been involved in over the last two years, same applies to Triple H, John Cena and Randy Orton, it may not be on free TV but its the same old!

I think a single branded PPV given enough time (say about a year and 4 single shows) would give guys in the mid card a chance to propel themselves higher up the table so they could be genuinely considered for a main event slot

For instance a 3 hour SMACKDOWN PPV could look something similar to this

The SMACKDOWN roster has always been pretty poor though compared to RAW even after the initial draft, Rock would never have been over there if he wasnt scheduled to leave a few weeks after that first draft, I think this time it has more of an even feel about it

No doubt about it, but thats "right now", you know how things work, 3 months time and people will be bitching about same old stuff blah blah blah.

I don't know, I kinda see JR moving to SMACKDOWN as a sign of the times, "in with the new" in all that

It is a good move for SMACKDOWN though, for the past 15 years JR has been the voice of the WWF/E so having him present SMACKDOWN will give the show itself a boost, whether that will effect ratings or not is another matter though

It's not that stupid tho IMO, i think all it is, is a way to get a couple of titles to switch brands, pointless? yep

i've just contridicted myself a bit there, pointless and stupid is basiclly the same haha

I will be very surprised if one of the two main titles do not change hands tonight and since that will beasically be the two most anticipated matches for obvious reasons then thats why I believe the timing is awful!
