Foley to TNA?

WWE legend Mick Foley will jump to rival wrestling group TNA next month, a close friend has told The Sun.

The hardcore icon has become frustrated with his role as a commentator on Smackdown and wants to leave Vince McMahon’s company when his contract expires on September 1.


And he is so determined to make an IMPACT for his new employers, that he’s even willing to get back in the ring.



Foley’s pal told us: “Mick's body cannot handle a full time schedule, even in TNA.


“But he's hell bent on doing everything he can to further his legacy and put them on the map.


"So Mick's plan is to wrestle select dates, like Sting currently does.


“He feels he will legitimately make a big difference in the way TNA Wrestling is perceived by the public!”


Mick missed last night’s Smackdown TV taping for the second week running, with Tazz once again taking his announcer spot beside Jim Ross.


Last week, Foley told a newspaper: “At this point, there is a good chance, through mutual agreement that I will not be renewing my contract.


“Creatively, the announcing job wasn't working out too well.”


The hardcore legend almost went to TNA once before, in 2005, but decided to sign a new deal with the WWE at the last moment.

Would going to TNA be a good move for Mrs. Foley's baby boy? Would yet another former WWE / WCW star going to the group mean more viewers?

He should be an ambassador. but not a wrestler. He will add to hte reaosn many dislike TNA. Ex stars trying ot get 1 payday ruining a legacy.

I JUST put this in the Flair thread, but I think it applies here too, he is the opposite of what TNA needs, he old and broken and ceased to be entertaining 5yrs ago.

Concentrate on you're product and the wrestler you have TNA.

I agree with you Bazz (although I would love to see Abyss vs Mick Foley in a hardcore match).

if he did go over, i would like to see him have a heel turn and get the younger talent over, similar to what booker t does for them

I think he could still be useful as a wrestler, so long as first of all it is just a select few dates he wrestles, and secondly that he drops some of that weight as he just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. Definitely agree that Foley vs Abyss would be something of a dream match.

I can't say if he'd improve TNA in anyway or not, i havnt watched TNA in months.

TNA have a bit of a rep of signing up old wwe/wcw wrestlers, would just give more ammunition for anyone who dislikes TNA because of it.

on the other hand, i might start tuning into TNA if he does sign, im still waiting for his final 'holy shit' moment, may even get me back into TNA.... for the wrong reasons i know....

This would go way beyond just signing old wwe/wcw talent though, this is not like Booker T who at least had something left to give, Foley is like Michelin Man with a beard and long hair.

Can he cut a promo? yes

Can he wrestle a match where his opponent doesn't have to carry his fat arse? NO

Well in that case, a GM/Manager role would be good for him, he's as good as most at cutting a promo

why are people saying foley v abyss would be a dream match? both of them are virtually talentless bump-takers

Flair to TNA would be a fantastic move for them, as long as he doesn't wrestle.

Foley on the other hand would be bollocks for them IMO. He offers nothing out of the ring and he's a long way past it inside. He's old, out of shape and no longer wants to take risks which is fair play as he's a had a rough career. But he really needs to let it end properly, he's always been a novelty and I don't think Foley has anything left to offer.

And as for him and Abyss who gives a bollocks lol.

I think Foley going to TNA would be just as bad as Flair going to TNA, it futhers their crtics claim that they just take old stars. As other people have said they need to start establishing their own stars.
If Foley leaves it will prove he's very selfish, he's lucky to be in the biggest wrestling business in the world, 'cos IMO, he's not very good announcer, has to be carried by anyone he goes into the ring with, and no matter how good his promoes are he needs to be a little more grateful.

I still think Flair would be brilliant if he keeps to a manager or summit. Massive personality, good mic skills, high profile and a lot of people like him.

How could that not be great for TNA?

He's bigger than alot of the stars in TNA, so if he manages someone less than main event, there's a chance the focus would be more on Flair than the guy he's managing. He would have to manage someone big, like he did with Triple H, but IMO there's no one big in TNA who needs Flair.

nah, the focus might be on flair for a few weeks but its really up to the creative team to incorporate a up coming star with a manager like flair and not focus on solely flair.

i think he would be suited to a up coming star rather than a big name.

What about AJ Styles? Would that work? i've heard good things about him, having a mentor like Flair could push him to the next level???

I don't watch TNA, and I just guessed that most were good on the mic. If he's a manager of an established star i think the focus would be split but even then it's not ideal, I think he should just respect WWE and not join any promotion. The amount they did for his 'retirement' was alot, and I think it would be a slap in the face to join another promotion. If he started wrestling again I think it'd be like shitting in Vince's mouth then being sick all over him. Bad.

Vince would crash the TNA studio and stab Flair.

Fuck Vince, Flair can shit on him all he wants. They owe fuck all to each other. It would be shitting on his fans though by wrestling again, not WWE.

As for Foley he's so used to retirement matches it's becoming his speciality. I wouldn't care if he went to TNA and wrestled naked.
