WWE obviously relies on larger than life characters to draw in spectators (especially children). However, without evolution, even the staunchest WWE supporters would grow tired of anyone (Rocky Sucks, anyone?).

Who, in your opinion, has undergone the best character evolution in his entire wrestling career? Is it Triple H's journey from snobbish blueblood to The Game? The Undertaker's trip from undead monster to The Phenom to MMA-lite grappler with a touch of mystique? Is it John Cena's long road from green as hell rookie to white rapper to marine-esque underdog that gains Superman powers at the end of a bout.

Hell, is it even Edge's slow, but eventually successful journey from outcast outsider to cocky midlevel talent to Rated R Superstar to today's Ultimate Opportunist?

The floor is yours.

Sting - from a bland, bleach-blonde face, to the mysterious, Crow-esque guy who managed to do pretty much the impossible - he got himself over without wrestling. And all without the WWE publicity machine behind him.

hbk.

tag team wrestler who was very cockjy. Relaesed on a couple of occassions. Comes back and slowly builds the heartbreak kid gimmick and wins the world title.

He then retires and rebuilds his fan base yet again with religion a key factor to his wrestling and personal life.

From a man who participated in the montreal screwjob, to a man who won't take part in a sexual inuendo.

From a man who broke of script and started talking about Bret Hart sleeping around. To the man who many rely on to produce the match of the hear.

Whether persoanlly or as a charachter. HBK has evolved the most

kane had the perfect platform to have MASSIVE character evolution, however the oppourtunity was wasted when they let him become the mid card rife on any of the shows.

he was portrayed as the enigmatic half brother of the undertaker, who at first couldnt talk, but then he gradually learned to speak.

when they removed his mask, they had a vast variety of avenues to take, unfortunatly the one that the creative team has took has made him look weak compared to his "masked" persona.

thats an example of the potential character development.

the biggest charactor development and evolution has to be the undertaker, from his first incarnation as a deadman, to the ministry undertaker who was more evil and malevolant, to the bike riding, chain weilding american bad ass brawler, and then eventually to the undertaker who has a 2 month program with whoever is world champ and then dissapears for another 2

Have to agree with Grecian here, the Sting transformation was amazing. He was the young blonde 100% babyface. He's arguably the brightest and most colourful World Champion ever but then came the change. He (his character) basically said fuck off on Nitro and never spoke or wrestled until Starrcade 97 in the huge main event with Hogan. His gradual transformation into the dark, mysterious Sting was incredible. He kept it fresh by bringing back the cockyness again and speaking again but he was already made by that point.
