I think Andre did win the title. He won it from Hogan at some point during the early 90's, I think.

It was early 1987 and he never won the title, not officially!

If we are going to give Andre a title against his name for that then we can give one to Owen Hart as well who 'won' the title against Bret in a lumberjack match before the decision was reversed!

He won it in 1988 though off Hogan. He gave it up to Dibiase though and it got vacated.
