The WWE has announced on their website that at the upcoming "Great American Bash" PPV, the new ECW Champion Mark Henry will square off against "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer.
This will mark not only the first test of Henry's ECW Championship reign but also the first time that Dreamer has been involved in a top championship match on a WWE PPV. As you know, during his time as a member of the Raw roster, Dreamer did hold the Hardcore Championship a few times, and finally lost it to Rob Van Dam when former Raw GM Eric Bischoff decided to scrap the title.
Dreamer is a former ECW Champion in his own right, winning the gold back in the original ECW from Taz and then losing it only a few minutes later to Justin Credible. Dreamer has been very outspoken regarding his thoughts on the new "ECW" and had been brought back into the spotlight so to speak as the mentor of Colin Delaney.
It is unknown if former WWE Superstar Tony Atlas will be in Henry's corner for this bout or if the situation on ECW this past Tuesday was a one spot apperance.
