WWE Best of Raw Vol. 2

As most WWF fans already know, Raw is the Federation's weekly two-hour show on TNN. Unlike UPN's Smackdown, Raw is a bit more hard-edged, taking advantage of its cable time slot. Like Smackdown, however, Raw is the bridge between the WWF's pay-per-view events; it's where the writers and wrestlers construct their soap operas. This two-hour highlight compilation tape chronicles what many consider to be the WWF's most controversial year, late '98 through late '99. During this time, the Ministry of Darkness, a dark cult lead by the then-heel Undertaker would merge with Vince McMahon's Corporate team. They concocted schemes like kidnapping and torturing McMahon's own daughter, Stephanie. This was also the height of the McMahon/Stone Cold Steve Austin feud. For the first time in history, the man who owned the company also donned the trunks and got bloodied, while country hick Stone Cold became CEO. In other events, the Rock--then the evil Corporate Champion rather than the People's Champion--waged terrific battles with faces Austin and the leather-masked Mankind; the 500-pound Big Show and high-flyer Chris Jericho made impressive debuts; and a young Triple H went from sideline figure to one of the biggest, nastiest superstars the Federation has ever produced. If you're new to pro wrestling, this is a perfectly enjoyable history lesson. If you're an old school fan, it provides a great walk down a warped and twisted memory lane.
