The kid fucked up, but he didn't do it out of spite, he did it because he's a fucking idiot. He deserves jail time, yes, and 8 months is a good amount of time. He's not a threat to society, he won't drink and drive again, and he certainly hates himself for what he did to his friend, thats really all the punishment he needs. More won't do anyone any good.

And i agree with you that the world is full of retards, and i agree that I have no fkin clue what he'll do when he gets out.

However, i don't believe that someone deserves to be placed in jail for years of their life because they fucked up once. By all means, if he gets out in 8 months and is caught again, i wouldn't care if he was sentenced to life behind bars, but i feel that more than 8 months for a first offense would be a little excessive. Besides, if memory serves me, the 8 months in jail is only the opening part of the sentence.

Well, chuck in the fact that he had something like 4 speeding tickets in the year before the crash, and the obnoxious little prick deserves everything he bloody got. It was only a matter of time before he did something like this, and it's his own fucking fault. Simple as that.

Sorry doom, but I just don't think 8 months is enough(not that he will serve 8 anyway, more like 4-5), and like Grecian just said this wasn't his first offence.

Drinking and driving should be classed as assault with a deadly weapon if you ask me.
